AMERICUS, KS – S&A Telephone has announced plans to bring fiber internet to Americus, Kansas.

Thanks to funding from the recently awarded CARES Act and Connectivity Emergency Response Grant, S&A will be able to build the infrastructure to bring fiber-fast internet to  the main street area in Americus.

“We are excited to bring quality broadband internet to the people in this community. Many businesses in these rural areas struggle with connectivity which, especially in these unprecedented times, is so crucial to their daily lives,” said Josh Reece, Operations Supervisor for S&A Telephone.

“Bringing opportunities for distance learning, tele-medicine and ecommerce is critical during the Pandemic. Funds from this grant will give us a starting point to bring much needed connectivity to this rural area,” added Deb Rand, President of S&A Telephone.

The benefits of this fiber expansion include:

  • Faster and more reliable internet to the rural community of Americus.
  • The opportunity to keep those who are remote working or learning, connected during these unprecedented times.
  • Improve access to healthcare, ecommerce, and other online services.
  • Spur economic development and innovation while enhancing the quality of life.

The project is expected to start later this month and will be completed by the end of the year.
